Murders:
Albert Fish was legally charged for the murders of three children and been linked to the stabbing of two others. Though the exact number of people he truly murdered is a mystery, Fish at one time claimed that the number was about 100.
grace budd
Albert Fish originally approached the Budd household intending to victimize Grace Budd's brother, Edward. Fish had fooled the family into thinking that he was looking to hire Edward. Fish came to the Budd home for an interview with Edward and did not meet Grace until his second visit. His motives quickly changed when he set eyes on Grace. Fish schemed to trick the Budd's into allowing Grace to go with him to a "party" for his nonexistant niece. The Budd's agreed and sent Grace off. Fish then proceeded to take Grace to an empty apartment where he stripped off his clothing, strangled Grace, and cut her body up to take it home. Then, Fish cooked the meat from Grace's body and consumed it. Years later, Fish sent an extremely vulgar letter to Grace's mother, explaining what he had done. This letter lead the police to Fish, and ultimately provided enough evidence for Fish's execution.
billy gaffney
Billy Gaffney, a four-year-old at the time of his murder, was playing with another boy in a hallway outside his apartment when both he and the other boy were abducted by Fish. The other boy was later found on the roof of a building, claiming that Billy was taken by the "boogie man." Many people were suspected for the murder, but Fish confessed to taking Billy in a letter to his attorney. He said that he took Billy, cut off parts of his body, and whipped him until he bled. Then, Fish cut the meat from Billy's body and brought it home to cook. In the letter, Fish claimed that Billy's "monkey" was sweet by his "pee wees" were too tough to chew. After weeping through hours of questioning at the police station, Billy's mother dismissed him as not being the real killer of her son.
Francis McDonnell
Francis McDonnell was eight years old at the time of his death. Albert Fish brought Francis into the woods, sexually assulted him, and strangled Francis with his own suspenders. Fish claimed that his plan was to dismember the boy, but he had been startled by the sound of someone in the woods and fled the scene.
